Role & Responsibilities
• Dispense medications to inpatients accurately as per valid prescriptions
• Review and interpret medication orders for correct dose, strength, and dosage form
• Provide patient counselling and clear medication-related information
• Clarify prescription discrepancies with prescribing physicians and escalate unresolved issues to the Chief Pharmacist
• Supervise repackaging, labelling, and documentation of medications for departments and unit-dose distribution
• Respond to drug-related queries from doctors, nurses, and patients
• Maintain medication stock levels, process transfers, and update computerised inventory records
• Monitor near-expiry medicines and manage assigned pharmacy racks
• Assist in training and orientation of new pharmacists and pharmacy staff
• Perform specialty pharmacy activities as delegated and trained
• Ensure compliance with international guidelines, DHA regulations, and Joint Commission International standards
• Carry out additional duties as directed by the Chief Pharmacist
Qualification
• Master’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution
• Valid DHA Pharmacist licence
• Strong academic background in hospital pharmacy practice
Experience
• 2–7 years of experience as a hospital pharmacist
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient pharmacy experience
• Hands-on experience with medication dispensing, inventory control, and unit-dose systems
Skills
• Strong knowledge of UAE healthcare laws, DHA regulations, and hospital policies
• Excellent medication review, counselling, and clinical communication skills
• Ability to manage inventory systems and documentation accurately
• Strong attention to detail and patient safety orientation
• Good command of English; Arabic language skills desirable
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
