Role & Responsibilities
• Lead and supervise delivery of high-quality, evidence-based respiratory care
• Diagnose, manage, and treat inpatients and outpatients within specialty scope
• Oversee clinical activities of junior medical staff and assume responsibility for care provided
• Lead ward rounds; reassess patients regularly and adjust management plans
• Review investigation results and modify treatment as required
• Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
• Accept appropriate referrals from ED, primary care, specialty clinics, and other hospitals
• Prepare patients for procedures and obtain informed consent
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to plan holistic patient care
• Provide rotational on-call coverage including nights, weekends, and public holidays
• Communicate clinical information effectively to patients and families
• Practice appropriate utilisation of organisational resources
• Maintain strong collaboration and teamwork across departments
• Support quality improvement, audits, incident reporting, and patient safety initiatives
• Promote education, supervision, and training of junior staff
• Participate in clinical research, publication, and continuous medical education (CME)
Qualification
• Tier 1 or Tier 2 recognised qualification in Respiratory Medicine
• Current national license or equivalent
• Certified proof of yearly CME
Experience (Tier Criteria)
• Tier 1: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Consultant (or equivalent) post board certification
• Tier 2: Minimum 8 years’ full-time experience as a Consultant (or equivalent) post board certification (includes fellowship years)
• UAE Nationals: Clinical fellowship may substitute experience (each fellowship year = two years’ experience; applicable to accredited programs in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK, USA, or HAAD-accredited programs)
