Role & Responsibilities
• Supports, implements, and follows hospital, departmental, and divisional initiatives, policies, and procedures
• Leads and implements performance management systems, including peer reviews, productivity, and utilization reviews
• Assists the Division Chief with scheduling and ensuring adequate medical coverage
• Participates in divisional meetings and supports recruitment of new medical staff
• Diagnoses and treats patients according to best practice standards for the specialty
• Oversees junior medical staff's clinical activities and ensures the quality of care provided
• Leads ward rounds and regularly reassesses both inpatients and outpatients
• Reviews investigation results and modifies treatment plans accordingly
• Collaborates with other medical specialties and support services for comprehensive patient care
• Ensures informed consent is obtained before procedures and manages patient preparation
• Participates in on-call coverage including evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays
• Communicates clinical information to patients and families, maintaining confidentiality
• Fosters a culture of learning, development, and continuous improvement within the department
• Promotes and assists in the supervision of junior medical staff and facilitates essential training
• Supports clinical research, publications, and the pursuit of continued medical education (CME)
• Promotes quality improvement and participates in audits to enhance clinical practices
Qualification
• MBBS (Medicine) or equivalent
• National license or equivalent
• Certified proof of yearly CME
Experience
• Required:
Tier 1: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a consultant or equivalent post-board certification
Tier 2: Minimum 8 years of full-time employment as a Consultant or equivalent post-board certification in internationally accredited institutes (including fellowship training)
Clinical fellowship training in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK, USA, or HAAD accredited programs can substitute experience
