Sr. Optometrist

Role & Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and detailed visual assessments
• Perform refraction and prescribe spectacles and contact lenses
• Carry out pre-operative evaluations and post-operative care for cataract and other eye surgeries
• Perform advanced diagnostic tests including Applanation Tonometry, Keratometry, Fundus Photography, OCT, A-scan, B-scan, and Visual Field Testing
• Collaborate closely with ophthalmologists for diagnosis and treatment planning
• Supervise, mentor, and guide junior optometrists and interns
• Conduct regular clinical training sessions and case discussions
• Review and ensure accuracy of clinical documentation and compliance with protocols
• Maintain accurate patient records using EMR / HMIS systems
• Ensure calibration and maintenance of ophthalmic equipment
• Participate in community outreach programs, eye screening camps, and school vision screenings

Qualification
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Optometry from a recognized institution
• Fellowship from reputed optometry or eye care institutes is preferred

Experience
• Minimum 5–7 years of clinical experience in optometry
• At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or senior optometrist role
• Prior experience in a tertiary eye care center is an advantage

Skills
• Proficiency in advanced optometric and ophthalmic diagnostic tests
• Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic capabilities
• Excellent patient counselling and communication skills
• Leadership and mentoring abilities
• Familiarity with EMR and hospital management systems
• Willingness to participate in rural and outreach eye care programs
