Senior Genome Analyst
About the Role
Roles & Responsibilities
• Perform detailed analysis and interpretation of NGS data including WES, WGS, and targeted panels for germline, somatic, and cancer genomics as per ACMG/AMP guidelines
• Prepare accurate clinical genomic reports within defined turnaround times (TAT)
• Annotate and classify variants using databases such as ClinVar, OMIM, gnomAD, and UCSC Genome Browser
• Collaborate with clinicians, genetic counselors, and patient families to discuss findings and address clinical queries
• Conduct quality control checks to ensure accuracy, reliability, and validity of sequencing data
• Maintain strong knowledge of human genetics, molecular biology, and disease mechanisms
• Stay updated with current guidelines, literature, and advances in genomic medicine
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to team skill development
• Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality and data security standards
• Contribute to research projects, manuscript preparation, scientific publications, and validation / functional studies
• For bioinformatics-focused roles: process FASTQ data through QC pipelines, perform alignment (BWA, Bowtie2), variant calling (GATK or equivalent), annotation, and pipeline optimization; experience in RNA-seq, transcriptomics, PLINK, and scripting (Python / R / Perl) on Linux is highly desirable
Qualification
• M.Sc in Genetics or equivalent with minimum 3 years of experience in variant interpretation
• M.Sc/ M.Tech in Bioinformatics with minimum 3 years of hands-on NGS bioinformatics experience
• OR PhD in Genetics / Bioinformatics or related field (fresh PhD graduates may apply)
Experience
• 3+ years in NGS analysis, variant interpretation, or clinical genomics
• Fresh PhD candidates are eligible
Skills
• Strong proficiency in NGS data analysis tools and bioinformatics pipelines
• Expertise in variant interpretation and clinical reporting
• Knowledge of ACMG/AMP guidelines and genomic databases
• Experience with Linux-based analysis environments
• Excellent analytical, computational, and communication skills
• High ethical standards in research and patient data handling
