Role & Responsibilities
• Extract relevant information from patient records.
• Examine documents for missing information and ensure accuracy.
• Assign appropriate codes (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9/ICD-10CM, APC, DRG, ASA).
• Ensure documents are grammatically correct and free from typing errors.
• Perform chart audits to maintain coding quality.
• Report any issues with equipment or computer programs to the supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with medical coding policies and guidelines.
• Verify that codes align with doctors' diagnoses.
• Stay updated on new coding rules as they change.
• Collect and distribute coding-related information and address billing issues.
Qualification
• Life Science graduation or equivalent degree with Anatomy/Physiology as main subjects.
Experience
• 2 to 7 years of work experience as an ED Facility coder.
