Job Description

A full-time Retail Pharmacist is required for a registered pharmacy outlet chain located in Molendinar, Queensland. The role involves delivering high-quality dispensing services, patient counselling, medication management support, and primary healthcare services.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with healthcare providers and pharmacy staff to ensure safe medication practices, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service. The position offers an annual salary between $77,000 and $97,000 plus superannuation.

Responsibilities

• Dispense prescription medicines accurately in compliance with national regulatory requirements
• Provide patient counselling on prescription and non-prescription medicines
• Supply Pharmacist Only Medicines and supervise Pharmacy Medicines and general sales
• Collaborate with GPs, allied health professionals, and healthcare providers to deliver patient-centred care
• Offer services such as home medicine reviews, dose administration aids, staged supply, opioid substitution therapy, disease management, and medication adherence programs
• Ensure patient safety and document clinical interventions using GuildCare software
• Process PBS claims and prepare Medicare documentation in accordance with HIC requirements
• Report medication errors, discrepancies, or ethical concerns promptly
• Maintain accurate records of prescriptions and controlled substances
• Oversee proper storage of temperature-sensitive medicines including vaccines and serums
• Monitor fridge temperatures and ensure compliance with cold chain requirements
• Assist with stock rotation, expiry checks, ordering, and receipt of pharmacy inventory
• Supervise Pharmacy Technicians, interns, and Pharmacy Sales Assistants
• Provide high standards of customer service in a fast-paced environment
• Stay updated with medication knowledge, complementary products, and healthcare services
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and professional standards

Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities

The pharmacist must ensure compliance with:
• Pharmacy Practice Act 2004
• Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations
• Quality Care Pharmacy Program (QCPP) standards
• National Health Act requirements
• Pharmacy Board of Australia guidelines

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor of Pharmacy – Mandatory
• Current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) – Mandatory

Experience and Skills

Experience:
• Minimum 12 months of experience in a retail pharmacy setting
• At least 12 months of experience using pharmacy dispensing software and POS systems
• Proven experience in customer service and pharmaceutical counselling

Technical Skills:
