Research & Development -Manager

Roles & Responsibilities
Formulation Development
• Lead development and optimization of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical formulations including tablets, capsules, powders, liquids, soft gels, sachets, and other dosage forms
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, excipient compatibility studies, and stability studies
• Improve existing formulations for enhanced quality, cost efficiency, performance, and shelf life
• Evaluate new ingredients, excipients, and innovative delivery systems

Process Development & Scale-Up
• Plan and execute pilot-scale and commercial-scale trials
• Ensure effective technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing
• Troubleshoot formulation and process-related challenges during scale-up and routine production
• Optimize manufacturing processes for robustness and reproducibility

Regulatory & Documentation
• Prepare and review formulation development reports, SOPs, BMRs, validation protocols, and technical documentation
• Ensure compliance with GMP, GLP, ICH, WHO, FDA, and FSSAI guidelines (as applicable)
• Support regulatory submissions, audits, inspections, and product registrations
• Maintain proper documentation aligned with quality and regulatory standards

Project & Team Management
• Manage multiple formulation development projects within defined timelines and budgets
• Lead, mentor, and develop F&D scientists and executives
• Coordinate with QA, QC, Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, Production, and Marketing teams
• Monitor project milestones and ensure timely commercialization

Innovation & Market Support
• Research emerging technologies, novel excipients, and advanced delivery systems
• Provide technical inputs to marketing for product positioning and claims substantiation
• Analyze competitor products and market trends to support strategic product development
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the R&D function

Qualification
• M.Pharm (Master of Pharmacy) / M.Sc / PhD in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline

Experience
• 8–12+ years of hands-on experience in Formulation & Development (Pharma/Nutraceutical)
• Proven experience in oral solid dosage forms and/or liquid formulations
• Experience in formulation scale-up, stability studies, and regulatory documentation

Skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• In-depth knowledge of excipients, stability, scale-up, and regulatory requirements
• Leadership and team management skills
• Strong project management and documentation expertise
• Regulatory knowledge (Pharma / FSSAI depending on product category)
• Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills
• Strategic thinking with innovation-driven mindset
