Principal House Officer - Orthopaedics

Role & Responsibilities
• Participate in the provision, development and maintenance of an effective, efficient and equitable Orthopaedic clinical service
• Deliver high-quality patient care as a member of the Orthopaedic team
• Assist in theatre procedures including emergency and elective cases
• Contribute to outpatient services including Fracture Clinic and Orthopaedic clinics
• Support continuous improvement of medical education and knowledge dissemination to staff and patients
• Comply with Mackay Hospital and Health Service policies and clinical governance standards
• Provide services primarily at Mackay Base Hospital with potential extension to other facilities within the Health Service

Qualification
• Medical degree from a recognised tertiary institution
• Registration as a Medical Practitioner (or eligibility) in Australia
• Compliance with Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) requirements as per role description

Experience
• Experience in Orthopaedics or relevant clinical rotations preferred
• Experience in emergency and elective surgical settings desirable
• Ability to manage inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities

About the Company
Mackay Hospital and Health Service is a Queensland Government health service providing care to a population of approximately 180,000 across a district spanning 90,000 km². The service includes 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres employing over 3,700 staff. Mackay Base Hospital’s Orthopaedics Department performs approximately 2,300 theatre procedures annually, including 1,500 emergency cases, and provides extensive outpatient services.
