Pharmacist - Ophthalmology

Roles & Responsibilities

• Dispense ophthalmic medications ensuring accuracy, sterility, and patient safety
• Perform sterile compounding for ophthalmic preparations as required
• Provide consultation to ophthalmologists and patients regarding medication selection, dosage, administration, and side effects
• Maintain inventory of ophthalmic medications ensuring proper storage, handling, and timely replenishment
• Monitor and report adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and medication errors
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, nurses, and healthcare teams to optimize therapy outcomes
• Educate patients on eye drop administration, contact lens care, and medication adherence
• Participate in clinical trials and research related to ophthalmic medications
• Develop and implement pharmacy protocols specific to ophthalmic treatments
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and pharmacy safety guidelines

Qualification

• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from a recognized institution
• Valid Pharmacist License in good standing
• Certification in Sterile Compounding preferred

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of pharmacy experience
• Minimum 1 year of experience in ophthalmology or ophthalmic medication handling preferred

Skills

• Strong knowledge of ophthalmic drugs, interactions, and adverse effects
• Expertise in sterile compounding and aseptic techniques
• Knowledge of DHA regulations and NPCM guidelines
• Strong patient counselling and communication skills
• Inventory and medication safety management
• Attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary clinical environments
