About the Role
Roles & Responsibilities
• Operate as a generalist pharmacist with sound judgment and accountability across pharmacy operations
• Maintain sufficient inventory of medicines, supplies, and equipment
• Report shortages promptly and maintain ordering and replenishment records
• Review and interpret prescriptions for inpatient and outpatient settings
• Counsel patients and provide medication-related information when required
• Clarify prescription abnormalities with physicians and escalate unresolved issues to the Chief Pharmacist
• Inspect wards and clinics for outdated, expired, or excess stock
• Perform drug utilization and administration reviews
• Maintain ward medication registers and ensure correct inventory levels
• Replenish crash cart medications, including controlled drugs, and maintain lock registers
• Inspect pharmacy inventory and nursing cabinets regularly
• Respond to drug-related queries from doctors, dentists, and nurses
• Assist in training and orientation of new pharmacy staff
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Pharmacist
Quality & Safety
• Promote continuous quality improvement across pharmacy services
• Follow all safety, quality control, infection control, and environmental safety procedures
• Support clinical audits and quality assurance activities
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices
Continuous Education
• Participate in departmental education, training programs, and staff meetings
• Attend lectures, seminars, and online learning to maintain professional competence
• Complete mandatory licensure, certification, and training within timelines
Occupational Safety & Infection Control
• Comply with OSH and infection control policies and procedures
• Report hazards, incidents, near misses, and assist in risk assessments
• Use appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices
• Adhere strictly to hand hygiene and infection prevention protocols
Qualification & Licensure
• Bachelor of Pharmacy from a recognized institution
• Valid Pharmacist license in country of origin
• Mandatory DHA License to practice in Dubai, UAE
• Good knowledge of UAE pharmacy laws and regulations
Experience
• Relevant hospital pharmacy experience preferred
Skills
• Strong communication skills in English (Arabic desirable)
• Good clinical and analytical skills
• Ability to work under pressure with sound time management
• IT and basic computer proficiency
• Professional, ethical, and patient-focused approach
