About the Role
Roles & Responsibilities
• Ensure pharmaceutical services are implemented in line with internationally accepted standards and Ministry of Health guidelines
• Oversee ordering of drugs, medical commodities, and Gifts in Kind (GIK)
• Establish standardized data collection tools and train staff on accurate pharmaceutical consumption tracking
• Coordinate with logistics and finance teams to maintain adequate stock levels and prevent stockouts
• Support hiring and onboarding of pharmacy staff
• Identify training needs and conduct capacity-building programs for pharmacy personnel
• Collaborate with the medical team to provide standardized data for reporting and data management systems
• Review documentation to ensure correct pharmaceutical distribution to beneficiaries
• Package and label prescriptions and counsel patients on correct usage and potential adverse events
• Coordinate with Medical Coordinator, Logistics Coordinator, and Team Lead for proper demobilization and disposal of pharmaceuticals
• Support setup, maintenance, and demobilization of clinical spaces and base camps as required
• Promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards among staff and beneficiaries
• Adhere strictly to the Code of Conduct, humanitarian principles, and international humanitarian law
• Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational requirements
Qualification
• Registered Pharmacist (R.Ph) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) with a valid professional license
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
Experience
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience across pharmacy practice settings such as hospital, community, regulatory, research, or academia
• At least 3+ years of experience working in resource-poor or developing country environments
• Experience working with international teams, donor agencies, government bodies, and NGOs
Skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong decision-making and independent problem-solving abilities
• Self-motivated with the ability to work without close supervision
• Ability to manage stress and work in challenging humanitarian environments
• Strong leadership and staff motivation skills
• Creative approach to working with limited resources
• Fluency in English (spoken and written); Spanish, French, or Arabic is an added advantage
