Occupational Therapist
About the Role
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify client needs and goals.
• Develop and implement personalised, evidence-based intervention plans to enhance safety, independence, and daily participation.
• Provide services within clients’ homes and community settings across the catchment area.
• Implement Allied Health intake procedures in line with NDCH guidelines.
• Recommend home modifications, assistive devices, and risk-reduction strategies, including SWEP coordination.
• Collaborate with families, carers, builders, suppliers, and multidisciplinary team members.
• Maintain accurate and timely client documentation and statistics using NDCH systems.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with HACC and CHSP standards.
• Deliver community education and health promotion programs focused on injury prevention and healthy ageing.
• Supervise Occupational Therapy and Allied Health Assistant students.
• Participate in regular clinical supervision to maintain safe and reflective practice.
Qualification:
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist.
Experience:
• Experience in clinical occupational therapy practice across acute and/or community settings.
• Experience in education, supervision, and client engagement.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practice, ethical standards, and trauma-informed care desirable.
Skills:
• Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of Social Determinants of Health and community-based care.
• Excellent time management and flexibility across multiple service locations.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency in digital clinical systems and adaptability to new technologies.
• Commitment to safety, WH&S standards, and quality improvement.
