Medical Officer - Coronary Care Unit

Roles & Responsibilities

Clinical Duties
• Support safe patient care 24/7 by working with Visiting Medical Practitioners (VMPs) to conduct patient rounds, urgent reviews, and emergency responses
• Facilitate care as directed by VMPs and participate in multidisciplinary care teams
• Participate in the hospital’s safety culture, collaborating with other Medical Officers, Clinical Nurses, and Nurse Managers
• Manage complex patients and provide acute care in a high-dependency setting
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient care

Quality & Safety
• Adhere to National Safety and Quality Health Standards
• Comply with Workplace Health and Safety Act and infection control procedures
• Ensure patient safety and care standards are consistently maintained
• Provide high-quality care that aligns with the hospital's values

Qualification

• Current & Unrestricted general registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA
• Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent
• Current ALS and PALS certifications

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years full-time post-graduate experience (PGY 4 and above)
• Experience in acute care settings, particularly in cardiology or coronary care units
• Evidence of broad experience in managing complex patients
