Medical Officer - Coronary Care Unit
About the Role
Roles & Responsibilities
• Support safe, high-quality patient care in the Coronary Care Unit on a 24/7 basis
• Conduct patient rounds, urgent clinical reviews, and emergency responses in collaboration with Visiting Medical Practitioners
• Facilitate patient care as directed, ensuring timely escalation and intervention for complex cases
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Medical Officers, Clinical Nurses, and Nurse Managers
• Contribute actively to hospital safety culture and clinical governance standards
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical documentation
• Participate in rotating shifts including morning, evening, and night duties
• Comply with workplace health, safety, and infection control policies
Qualification
• Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent medical degree
• Current and unrestricted general registration with AHPRA
Experience
• Minimum 3 years of full-time post-graduate medical experience
• Broad experience in acute and high-dependency clinical settings (PGY4 or above)
• Recent experience managing complex and acute care patients
Skills
• Strong clinical decision-making and patient management skills
• Effective communication and teamwork within multidisciplinary environments
• Understanding of National Safety and Quality Health Care Standards
• Valid Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
• Ability to work rotating shifts including nights
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
