Medical Officer - Coronary Care Unit

Roles & Responsibilities
• Provide safe, high-quality patient care within the Coronary Care Unit on a 24/7 roster
• Conduct patient rounds, urgent clinical reviews, and emergency responses in collaboration with Visiting Medical Practitioners (VMPs)
• Support acute cardiac patients including those requiring high-dependency monitoring
• Assist in cardiothoracic, medical, and post-operative patient management as directed
• Work collaboratively with Medical Officers, Clinical Nurses, Nurse Managers, and multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
• Contribute to hospital safety culture and adherence to National Safety and Quality Health Care Standards
• Participate in rotating AM, PM, and night shifts as rostered
• Comply with workplace health, safety, infection control, and vaccination requirements

Qualification
• Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent medical degree
• Current and unrestricted general registration with AHPRA

Experience
• Minimum 3 years full-time post-graduate medical experience
• PGY-4 level or above with broad exposure to acute and high-dependency clinical settings
• Recent experience managing complex acute care patients

Skills
• Strong clinical decision-making in acute and coronary care settings
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary hospital environment
• Understanding of Australian healthcare standards and governance frameworks
• Commitment to professional development and patient-centred care
• Valid ALS and PALS certification
