Job Description
Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) is inviting applications for a Paediatric Neonatal Provisional Fellow (Junior Medical Officer) at John Hunter Children’s Hospital in Newcastle, NSW. This is a structured 2-year Neonatal Medicine program within a tertiary training hospital environment, offering comprehensive clinical exposure, mentorship, and academic collaboration.

Responsibilities
• Provide advanced neonatal care within NICU settings
• Participate in neonatal resuscitation and intensive management
• Collaborate with paediatric subspecialties including Oncology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Respiratory, Neurology, Gastroenterology, and Immunology
• Engage in multidisciplinary rounds and case discussions
• Contribute to research and innovation initiatives
• Participate in structured training and mentoring programs
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and compliance with hospital standards
Required Qualifications
• Advanced Trainee or Registrar in Paediatrics
• Eligibility for medical registration in Australia (AHPRA)
• Interest in Neonatal Medicine
Educational Requirements:
• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
• Progression in Paediatric training pathway
Experience and Skills:
• Experience in paediatrics and neonatal care preferred
• Strong clinical reasoning and emergency management skills
• Ability to work within NICU and multidisciplinary teams
• Interest in academic development and research collaboration
• Adaptability in tertiary hospital environment
Age Eligibility:
As per AHPRA registration requirements
Salary Insights
• Up to AUD $139,187 per annum
• Salary packaging up to $9,600 (living expenses) + $2,650 (meal expenses)
