About the Role
Roles & Responsibilities
• Select, procure, store, distribute, prepare, dispense, administer, document, and monitor pharmaceutical agents
• Dispense medications after verifying prescriptions and counseling patients
• Clarify prescriptions with physicians whenever required
• Prepare and supervise dispensing of prescription medicines
• Recommend generic substitutions when appropriate
• Oversee procurement, storage, and disbursal of drugs and medications
• Maintain storage protocols and statutory records
• Review patient history for allergies, reactions, and contraindications
• Ensure compliance with departmental policies and quality improvement programs
• Adhere to HAAD requirements and insurance documentation standards
• Monitor near-expiry and expired medicines and manage disposal as per policy
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and medical information
• Support formulary management and restricted drug programs
• Assist in intravenous drug preparation services
• Verify prescriptions thoroughly before dispensing
• Maintain registers for controlled and compounded medications
• Ensure safe custody and legal compliance for controlled drugs and narcotics
• Monitor procurement, storage, and disposal of controlled medicines and antidotes
• Advise physicians on alternative or substitute medications
• Review drug utilization patterns and recommend controls
• Inspect nursing drug cabinets, emergency trays, and crash carts
• Monitor quality indicators for pharmacy services
• Maintain antidote stocks, expiry checks, and emergency medication dosing
• Manage medicine stocks in disaster trolleys
• Handle procurement, preparation, storage, and dispensing of chemotherapy drugs
• Follow standard practices for high-alert medications and concentrated electrolytes
• Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, circulars, and regulations
• Review prescriptions for accuracy and therapeutic suitability
• Assess drug interactions and counsel clinicians on side effects, dosage, and usage
• Monitor drug–drug, drug–food, and drug–disease interactions
Qualification
• Bachelor of Pharmacy from a recognized institution
• Valid Pharmacist license in home country
• Mandatory HAAD License
Experience
• Minimum 2 years experience in an acute care hospital setting
Skills
• Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations
• Excellent command of spoken and written English
• Sound understanding of medical ethics
• Attention to detail and strong documentation skills
• Ability to coordinate with clinicians and healthcare teams
