Job Description
• Position: Hospital Medical Officer (RMO/Registrar)
• Location: Wantirna, Melbourne VIC
• Employment Type: Casual or Part-time
• Shifts: Predominantly 12-hour night shifts with some 12-hour day shifts
• Contract Duration: Available now through July 2026
• Work Setting: 295-bed hospital environment
Key Features of the Role:
• Competitive hourly rate: $130–$150 per hour
• Night shift remuneration up to $150/hr inclusive of Super, exclusive of GST
• Dedicated HMO office with overnight facilities
• Exposure to both general medical and surgical ward patients
• Direct collaboration with VMOs, ICU Senior Registrar, and nursing teams
• Opportunity to work across Wantirna and Moorabbin (Victoria)
Responsibilities
• Undertake standard ward-based medical and surgical HMO duties
• Collaborate with VMOs and nursing staff for coordinated patient care
• Act as MET first responder for unstable ward patients
• Assess, initiate treatment, and escalate to on-site ICU Senior Registrar appropriately
• Maintain accurate documentation and high clinical governance standards
• Ensure efficient and safe delivery of patient-centred care
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent)
• ALS certification or willingness to obtain
Experience and Skills:
• PGY3+
• Unconditional General AHPRA registration (Mandatory)
• Demonstrated strong clinical acumen
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Medical indemnity insurance with appropriate private cover
• Up-to-date vaccinations including COVID-19
• Ability to provide 2 referees for hospital accreditation
• Valid Australian work rights
