Job Description
• Position: General Practitioner
• Organisation: Serco
• Facility: Cairns Health Centre
• Location: HMAS Cairns, Cairns North QLD
• Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time (1 day per week – Monday) + Casual Opportunities
• Working Hours: 07:00–16:30 Monday–Thursday (role dependent), Half day Friday
• Sector: Defence Healthcare / Occupational Medicine

Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality primary care to Defence members
• Provide occupational medicine services
• Conduct fitness-for-duty and pre/post-deployment assessments
• Offer medical advice to Defence health leadership
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team
• Maintain clinical governance and compliance standards
Required Qualifications
• Unrestricted registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a GP
• FRACGP, FACRRM or Vocational Registration
• Minimum two years’ GP experience within the last five years
• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
• Australian Citizenship (Baseline Security Clearance requirement)
Educational Requirements
• Recognised medical degree
• Fellowship of RACGP or ACRRM (or equivalent Vocational Registration)
Experience and Skills
• Experience in General Practice within Australia
• Exposure to Occupational Medicine environments (preferred)
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
• Ability to work within structured Defence healthcare systems
• Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient-centred care
• Effective multidisciplinary teamwork and communication skills
