General Practitioner

Roles & Responsibilities
• Provide culturally sensitive, comprehensive GP services to Aboriginal communities in Alice Springs and surrounding remote regions
• Deliver primary healthcare across Central Australia, including outreach to remote communities such as Amoonguna, Ntaria, Santa Teresa, Utju, Yulara and Mutitjulu
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, community-controlled healthcare
• Provide clinical leadership while maintaining high standards of care and safety
• Support chronic disease management, preventive health, and continuity of care
• Engage respectfully with Aboriginal culture, traditions, and community priorities
• Participate in workforce development, registrar supervision, and quality improvement initiatives where applicable

Qualification
• Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
• Fellowship of RACGP or ACRRM, or minimum 5 years GP experience
• Additional qualifications such as Dip RANZCOG, FARGP, or MPH highly desirable

Experience
• Experience working as a General Practitioner in primary healthcare
• Experience in rural, remote, or Aboriginal health settings preferred
• Supervisor accreditation for GP registrars considered an advantage

Skills
• Strong clinical decision-making and leadership skills
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity to Aboriginal health contexts
• Ability to work independently in remote environments
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Physical and mental capacity to work and travel in remote locations
