Dental Assistant Grade 1

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Provide chairside assistance to clinicians and student clinicians during dental procedures
• Prepare clinical rooms, equipment, instruments, and materials for treatments
• Maintain strict infection prevention and control standards in line with NSW Health policies
• Accurately manage patient records and digital health information systems
• Support student clinicians in delivering high-quality patient care
• Participate in training sessions, meetings, student orientation, and oral health promotion activities
• Assist in service delivery across other oral health clinics, hospitals, schools, or residential facilities as required
• Promote safe, efficient, and patient-centred oral health care

Qualifications:
• Certificate III in Dental Assisting or recognised equivalent/current enrollment in the course

Experience:
• Recent and adequate experience as a Dental Assistant
• Experience assisting in a four-handed dentistry environment preferred
• Exposure to general and specialised dental procedures desirable

Skills:
• Strong infection control knowledge and practices
• Proficiency and accuracy in dental charting
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively
• Strong organisational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a large multidisciplinary team
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality patient care
