Job Description
The Clinical Pharmacist will join the Pharmacy Department at Alice Springs Hospital and provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services across inpatient and outpatient settings. The pharmacist will contribute to medication management, patient counselling, and clinical decision-making while working collaboratively with healthcare teams to ensure safe and effective treatment outcomes. Responsibilities
• Provide clinical pharmacy services for inpatient and outpatient hospital settings
• Participate in medication management and ensure safe, effective use of medicines
• Work closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient treatment plans
• Review patient medications, identify drug-related issues, and recommend therapeutic interventions
• Support clinical decision-making in complex patient cases
• Participate in hospital pharmacy services including ward rounds and medication reviews
• Provide medication counselling and education to patients and healthcare staff
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and medication safety practices
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
• Bachelor or Master of Pharmacy (or equivalent qualification)
• Registration or eligibility for registration as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
Experience and Skills:
• Completion of a hospital pharmacy internship or equivalent hospital training
• Experience or confidence in inpatient clinical pharmacy practice
• Strong clinical knowledge and medication management skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving skills
Salary and Benefits
Remuneration Package:
• Total remuneration range: $109,860 – $130,643 per year
• Base salary: $92,910 – $110,781 per year
• Additional 15% market allowance on top of base salary
Additional Benefits:
• $10,000 retention bonus for every 12 months of continuous service
• Professional development allowance ($1,000 for 1–3 years of service, $2,000 for 3+ years)
• 12% superannuation contribution
• Salary packaging options including $9,005 general packaging benefits
• Travel and accommodation support where applicable
• Overtime, on-call, and weekend shift penalty payments
Working Schedule:
• Standard hours: Monday to Friday (8:00 am – 4:21 pm)
• Participation in on-call and weekend roster as required
