About the Role

Roles & Responsibilities
• Provide strategic leadership as Chief Medical Officer within Defence Force Recruiting Headquarters
• Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams including ADF, APS, and contracted professionals
• Oversee implementation of Defence health policies and recruitment medical standards
• Provide subject matter expert advice to the Director General Defence Force Recruiting on medical recruitment matters
• Facilitate executive decisions on clinical assessments of recruits for suitability or unsuitability
• Ensure governance, compliance, and assurance of medical assessment processes
• Provide high-level advice to senior Defence leadership, Ministers, and Government on complex medical recruitment issues
• Respond to Parliamentary, Media, and Royal Commission enquiries related to recruitment health matters
• Drive strategic initiatives aligned with the National Defence Strategy and Defence Workforce Strategy
• Promote inclusive leadership, innovation, accountability, and organisational agility
• Contribute to development and implementation of future service delivery models within Defence recruiting

Qualification
• Medical degree with current specialist medical registration in Australia
• Eligibility for senior executive appointment within Australian Government frameworks

Experience
• Extensive senior leadership experience in healthcare or medical governance
• Demonstrated experience in policy implementation, governance, and executive advisory roles
• Experience engaging with senior government stakeholders preferred
