About the Role
Role & Responsibilities
• Dispense medicines and manage pharmacy services in BSF medical units and hospitals
• Maintain inventory, storage, and proper handling of drugs and medical supplies
• Ensure compliance with Pharmacy Act, 1948 and government medical guidelines
• Assist medical officers in patient care and emergency medical support
• Maintain accurate records of medicines, prescriptions, and stock registers
• Participate in induction training and ongoing medical preparedness programs
• Support healthcare delivery in field areas, hospitals, and border locations
Qualification
• 12th Class passed from a recognized Board
• Diploma in Pharmacy (2 years) from an institution recognized by Central/State Government
• Registered Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948
Experience
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Pharmacist in a 100-bedded hospital or government-recognized institution
• Experience requirement relaxable for SC/ST candidates as per government norms
Number of Vacancies
• 230 posts (subject to variation depending on workload)
Pay Scale
• Level-5 of Pay Matrix
• ₹29,200 – ₹92,300 per month
Age Limit
• Maximum age: Not exceeding 25 years
• Age relaxation up to 40 years for departmental candidates as per Central Government rules
• Age calculated as on the closing date for receipt of applications (except specified North-Eastern states and UTs as notified)
Probation & Training
• Probation period: 2 years
• Mandatory induction training of at least 2 weeks after basic training for successful completion of probation
Method of Recruitment
• 94% by Direct Recruitment
• 6% by Promotion, failing which by Direct Recruitment
Promotion Criteria
• Promotion from Head Constable (Paramedic) in Level-4 (₹25,500 – ₹81,100)
• Minimum 5 years regular service in the grade
• Successful completion of Basic Recruit Training
• Diploma in Pharmacy (2 years) from a recognized institution
• Registration as Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948
Skills
• Strong knowledge of medicines, dosage, and pharmacy practices
• Ability to maintain accurate medical and stock records
• Understanding of government healthcare protocols and compliance
• Good communication and coordination skills with medical teams
• Ability to work in disciplined, high-responsibility environments
