As a Sales Associate in the pharmacy department, you will be responsible for assisting customers with their pharmaceutical needs and providing exceptional customer service. You will help customers find the right medication, supplements, and health products, process transactions, and answer any questions they may have about their medications. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized workspace, restocking inventory, and following all safety protocols.
Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with medication inquiries, recommending over-the-counter products, and answering questions about pharmacy services in a friendly, professional manner.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pharmaceutical products, health supplements, and over-the-counter medications to offer informed advice and recommendations to customers.
Drive sales by promoting health-related products, pharmacy services, and ongoing promotions to customers while ensuring their needs are met.
Assist in the prescription fulfillment process by ensuring proper documentation, checking for medication accuracy, and helping customers understand their prescribed medications.
Monitor stock levels, assist with receiving inventory, and ensure products are well-organized and accessible on the pharmacy floor.
Process sales transactions efficiently using the register, handle cash, and process credit and debit payments accurately.
Inform customers of ongoing promotions, health plans, and loyalty programs to increase customer engagement and sales.
Offer basic health advice related to over-the-counter products and assist in explaining directions for use, side effects, and proper storage of medications.
Ensure the pharmacy area is clean, organized, and complies with health and safety standards.
Educate customers about new or available services, such as vaccinations, health checks, and pharmacy programs.
Support the pharmacy team with daily operations, helping pharmacists with routine tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience in a retail or pharmacy environment preferred, with knowledge of pharmaceutical products and healthcare services
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers, providing clear and helpful information
Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, over-the-counter medications, and health-related products
Ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately using point-of-sale (POS) systems
Detail-oriented and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations in the pharmacy setting
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in pharmacy, healthcare, or customer service are a plus
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
